Jordan: Schools Closing and Increase in Child Labor due to COVID-19

The Tamkeen Center for Legal Aid and Human Rights revealed in a study entitled "Impact of Covid-19 on Education and Child Labor in Jordan" that the pandemic has greatly impacted education.

The measures taken to contain the virus led to the closure of schools and changing to distance learning. The health crisis also caused many workers from poor families to become unemployed, leading to an increase in the number of child labor in the informal sector.

The study, from March 2020 to February 2021, aims to combat child labor in dangerous jobs in Jordan. The study recommended facilitating access to psychological care and social services for children working in risky sectors, and expanding social protection systems for migrants and refugees.
