The General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA) called for resuming proportional retirement for those who spent 32 years working which is, on the one hand, the worker’s right and, also, a solution to unemployment among the youth.
An Algerian trade union source stated that the return of proportional retirement without the age requirement contributes to reducing unemployment among the youth.
Last January, the Minister of Labour, Employment, and Social Security ruled out returning to work with proportional retirement due to the large financial deficit in the National Retirement Fund.
