According to information published in Amman, the Jordanian Teachers’ Syndicate is threatened with dissolution. The syndicate’s lawyer stated that the Court of First Instance in Amman accepted the case to dissolve it. He, also, added that the court accepted this case because of the Syndicate’s donation of half a million dinars to the Ministry of Health Fund to confront COVID-19.
This decision worsened the crisis of the syndicate since its 2019 strike. The government confronted this crisis by not paying the salary increase due to, as it claimed, COVID-19.
The head of the teachers’ syndicate asked for the cancellation of all orders in relation to the Syndicate since last July 25, returning teachers who had early retirement, reopening the headquarters of the Syndicate, and accepting the agreement concluded between the government and the syndicate concerning the wage increase.
