The Khartoum State Water Corp strike is on its 9th day. The strike has escalated after the participation of the stations and wells workers. The security authorities threatened to deploy joint forces to the stations to scare the protestors.
The steering committee introduced few demands to solve problems of the water corp including increasing the salaries of workers, improving their living conditions and promotions, and appointing temporary workers whose work in the authority exceeds the legal period, as well as improving the work environment.
The authorities, however, did not respond within the first period. The committee, hence, called on station workers not to engage in any clash with the security services, and asked them to evacuate the stations and let the authorities assume their full responsibility away from the workers.
The steering committee will renew the strike after the first period ends, so that the second period begins. If the authorities will not respond, escalating protests will probably take place.
