A Tunisian trade union source stated that preparations are still taking place for the regional general strike in Sfax until the reconciliation session.
Protesting against the economic situation and the disruption of projects in the region, the same source mentioned that this strike was scheduled on January 12, but the trade union decided to postpone it to February 18, 2021, in the light of the epidemic situation.
The same source added that the strike was decided in order to protest against the marginalization of the region and in this context pointed out that large projects are still blocked and that they are of an exorbitant cost which means that no government can do them all at once. He called for setting priorities in the execution of these projects including, among others, the Taparura project, the water desalination station, the port of Skhira, the petroleum refining plant, the light metro. and the depollution of the city.
