After the frequent traffic accidents of immigrant workers and those working in the agricultural sector in the Calabria region in Southern Italy, the union of farm workers denounced these accidents that led to the death of many workers including the Mali worker who was coming back to his camp and the Senegalese worker.
The union demanded providing lights in the roads and improving the situation of immigrant workers in the agricultural sector and their working and housing conditions.
It is worth noting that accidents happen yearly in the Plain of Gioia Tauro leading to the death of many workers going to work on foot or by bike. The Senegalese worker died on his way to work by bike last week.
The union added it will no longer tolerate these inhumane conditions forced on the workers for a cheap labour.
