Palestine: UNRWA Workers' Unions Protest Payment Delays

The General Congress of Workers' Unions of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA) has called for “payment of the salaries of employees of the Office in all countries and on time without any deferral or reduction”.

In a statement released last Thursday, the Congress said that “the UN, the General Assembly and donor countries must support UNRWA until the last Palestinian returns to his country of origin, Palestine.” Congress explained that the administration of the agency must urgently review its unjust decision and respect the rights of employees who claim their full wages and said that what has happened so farThis should be interpreted as pressure on donor countries to honour their commitments.

Le communiqué a également appelé le secrétaire-général de l’ONU à approuver la demande du Commissaire général de l'UNRWA concernant l’obtention d’un prêt exceptionnel pour payer les salaires des employés.
