Abdelkader Chehabi, Secretary-General of the Bahrain General Federation of Trade Unions, and his assistant Hassan Halwaji met with Jamil Hamidan, Minister of Labour and Social Development, on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.
During their meeting, stakeholders assessed the impact of measures taken to limit the impact of the pandemic on the national economy and discussed mechanisms for sustainable development and labour market stability. The Secretary-General of the Federation also emphasized the meetings of the Joint Committee between the Trade Union Centre and the Ministry and called for the development of this body in order to include the three production parties.
During the same meeting, the leaders of the General Federation presented their overall vision of the reform of the labour market and social security funds. They also took stock of the complaints filed by Bahraini and foreign trade unions and workers, recalling that although the courts have handed down their verdicts, workers are still awaiting execution.
