The international president of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Christos Christou, said that the disengagement of European Union officials from the rescue plans in the Central Mediterranean caused great tragedies for migrants.
Christos Christou explained that because of this disengagement, hundreds of migrants are sent back to Libya where they face harsh and inhumane conditions.
Last month, MSF called on the International Medical Humanitarian Organization to intervene to release 60 migrants detained by the Sabratha authorities.
In a report, the organization reported that 24 children were abducted while they were at home. Kidnapped for about two weeks, these children are reportedly being held at a former military base in horrific conditions.
