Tunisia: SNJT announces a series of protest movements

The expanded executive board of the National Syndicate of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) has decided to observe a day of national anger, organize protest rallies in Kasbah Square and all regions of the Republic, hold a sit-in at the seat of the government presidency and declare a general strike in the sector.

In a statement, the executive office of the SNJT stated that the head of government has targeted the media sector and that he is continuing the repression against the economic and social rights of journalists who are assaulted during the exercise of their profession and who can no longer access the information necessary for their work. The executive office also denounced the repression suffered by foreign press correspondents in Tunisia.

The SNJT also reiterated that the government has still not fulfilled its commitments to journalists and called for the publication of the two conventions-The European Commission’s White Paper on Employment, Employment and Social Affairs and the Social Charter.
