Last week, the Community Services Union organized its first constitutive congress under the supervision of the Election Committee designated by the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions. The congress was held at the headquarters of the General Federation in Jerusalem on the day of the commemoration of the assassination of leader Yasser Arafat Abu Ammar.
The participants elected the members of the Union’s Administrative Board and divided the positions among the newly elected members.
Speaking by telephone, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions, Chahar Saad, applauded the creation of this new Trade Union and recalled that Jerusalem remains the top priority for the trade union center that works for an efficient trade union movement in the region thanks to the commitment of young workers.
At the end of the constitutive congress, the new members of the Administrative Council organized their first meeting in which all the participants took part. The newly elected representatives expressed their commitment to serving their organization effectively and advocated for new plans and strategies to achieve all the goals of the new union.
