After the government opted for distance education because of the spread of Covid-19, private school owners held a protest rally in front of the regional education directorate in Irbid last Sunday. The protesters threatened to hand over the keys to their schools to the Ministry of Education and to dismiss all their employees.
The owners of the private schools claimed to have been surprised by the decision of the Ministerial Council on distance education, while their schools carefully applied the health protocol put in place by the supervisory authorities. The protesters added that they renewed the authorisations of schools and kindergartens for the year 2021 on the basis of the declaration of the Minister of Education and Education who had stated that the courses will be given in face-to-face.In this context, they called for the issuing of decrees on the organisation of salaries during distance education or the re-application of the defence order on wage cuts.
The owners said they can opt for the creation of a unique educational platform, which brings together all private institutions, which will allow them to work without any employees.
