The Tunisian rescue teams recovered four new bodies of migrants on Tuesday, after the sinking of a boat off the coast of Tunisia on Sunday. These new discoveries bring to at least 21 the number of bodies recovered in the last three days according to the Sfax court.
Last Sunday, seven migrants, mostly from Côte d'Ivoire, were rescued. According to the court spokesman, the boat carried 28 or 29 people, including two Tunisians and people from sub-Saharan African countries. The victims were 20 and 30 years old and three children, including one infant, were among them.
Last Sunday, the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior issued a statement announcing that the Coast Guard had intercepted 32 irregular crossings and arrested 262 people between the ages of 15 and 44, including two nationals from sub-Saharan African countries.
