The Jordanian Department of Statistics published the results of its second quarterly report for the year 2020, which recorded an increase in the unemployment rate to 23%.
In its analysis of these indicators, the report found that the unemployed with higher degrees represent a significant percentage of the unemployed, with a rate of 26.6%, while those with other levels of education represent the highest percentage of the unemployed at 51.6%.
Regarding the means of dealing with high unemployment rates and of harmonizing educational policies with the needs of the labour market, the expert and director of the Workers' Research Office, Hamada Abu Najma, explained that the labour market is lacking in certain specialties while Jordanian universities continue to offer courses that have no professional future.
