The Italian Foreign Minister announced that Tunisian Immigrants who recently arrived in Italy on boats will be deported starting August 10.
The Minister added in a statement to AFP: “We are in the process of working to stop the migration influx from Tunisia and Tunisians who will arrive to Italy would be deported, because we consider Tunisia a safe country in which we could invest”.
“Tunisia is not a country in a state of war or has repression. Accordingly, on August 10 we will start deportations at a rate of 80 deportations per week”, the Minister added.
He also noted that he does not rule out that he will be visiting Tunisia in the upcoming days, referring to their goal to reach a new agreement with Tunisia on migration and development cooperation, which will allow it to provide more job opportunities for its citizens. “We expect, in parallel, the maximum degree of cooperation to stop the organizers of these trips”, he added.
It is noteworthy that the growth indicators of immigrants by boat to Italy and Spain are considered normal during the months of June, July and August, given the stability of weather factors and the ease of navigation in sea.
