Jordanian police forces stormed into the headquarters of the Jordanian Teachers Syndicate, confiscated the phones of its employees, and shut down its premises.
The barging in process was preceded by a decision by the Jordanian Attorney General, which stipulated that the members of the Teachers Union Council, members of the Central Authority and branch bodies as well as their departments should be ceased, suspending the union from working, and closing down its headquarters for a period of two years.
The Attorney General also decided to issue subpoenas against the defendants, members of the Bar Council, to present them to the concerned public prosecutor to question them about the "charges" made against them.
The Ammani Attorney General said on Saturday, that in light of the Public Prosecution’s consideration of a number of investigative penal cases against the Teachers’ Union Council, which is the investigative issue related to financial violations that are pending before the Prosecutor General of the Integrity and anti-Corruption Commission and the issue related to decisions issued by the Syndicate’s Council, which have been circulated through means Social media included "incitement" procedures and the investigative issue related to the videos issued by the vice secretary general, which he circulated through social media and was viewed by the Prosecutor of Amman.
According to the same statement, he also decided to stop the work of the members of the Syndicate Council, members of the Central Authority and branch bodies and departments, stop the Syndicate from working and close its headquarters for a period of two years, as well as address the Minister of Education to form an interim committee to conduct the union’s administrative and financial management.
