Libya: Humanitarian Rescue Ships Resume Migrants Rescue Operations to Italy

After being disrupted for a long time, the German organization Sea Watch and Doctors Without Borders announced today, Tuesday, that they had resumed their migrants’ rescue operations in the Mediterranean.

The two organizations indicated that the operation will be resumed off the Libyan coast during the month of August.

For its part, media sources indicated that the Sea Watch ship 4, which will work to rescue the migrants, will have small rubber rescue boats on board, in addition to a medical team from Doctors Without Borders accompanying the ship’s crew.

It is noteworthy that the humanitarian rescue ships were subjected to seizure by the Libyan Coast Guard during the general quarantine period, which was then followed by an international campaign that ended with the release of the ships.
