Japan’s Toyota Motor Company said that the workers, who showed up in a video mocking African-American George Floyd, who was killed by the police in the United States of America at city of Minneapolis, no longer work for the company.
Bloomberg News reported that the Japanese company did not provide details, but said in a statement that it takes the allegations of racism in the workplace seriously, and that the individuals concerned no longer work at its factory in Princeton, Indiana, USA.
Two of the employees, including a supervisor, were fired after a video clip showing the supervisor kneeling on a file folder appeared on June 6.
Chris Reynolds, the company’s chief administrative officer in North America, did not address the incident in a video released this week, but said the company had redoubled its efforts to combat racism by targeting nearby communities that have manufacturing facilities.
