UAE: Emirates Airlines Planning to Lay Off 9.000 Employees

Emirates Airlines’ president announced that the company will lay off 9.000 employees due to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the company’s budgets.

Tim Clark, the company’s president, said in an interview with the BBC that the management has yet laid off tenth of its employees, and that the possibility of laying off another 15 % is still expected.

This demobilization process is in complete contradiction with previous “reassurances” made by Emirates Airlines officials, as the Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of the Supreme Committee had previously stated for “Scoop Dubai” that the Emirates Airlines Group has strong support from the Dubai government which will make it avoid any economic repercussions.
