Spain / Follow-up: Finally, Emergency Repatriation Trips to Evacuate Moroccan Female Agricultural Workers in Spain

The Moroccan Embassy in Madrid announced in a press release that the process of bringing back Moroccan seasonal workers in the Spanish region of Huelva through cruises will start from Saturday, July 18, 2020.

The report pointed out that the trips will include all the 7.100 women working in Spain who are used to go to Spain to work in the strawberry harvest in particular but were stuck there due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

It was reported that Moroccan, Spanish and even international human rights associations have highlighted the “crisis of Moroccan agricultural workers” after they were stranded due to border closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as mentioned before.
