On July 10, the Tunisian Administrative Court issued a court ruling nullifying the detention of migrants at the reception and orientation center in the Wardia region, south of the Tunisian capital.
This decision was considered unprecedented, according to the report of the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights, which considered that such decision ended the unlawful deprivation of liberty act and that the ruling was consistent with Tunisia’s international obligations, such as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Convention against Torture.
It is worth noting that this judicial decision was based on 22 cases filed by migrants who objected to their arbitrary detention in the Reception and Orientation Center in the Wardia area.
