A Tunisian worker at the Tuna factory of ‘Sidi Daoud’ brand, in the governorate of Nabeul, north of the capital, was subjected to a serious work accident due to a pouring of the prohibited ‘Soda’ substance on her entire body while she was carrying a container with a mixture of hot water and the mentioned banned material.
The worker stumbled and the bowl fell resulting in the mixture getting spilled allover her entire body.
The victim is currently residing, in critical condition, in the hospital due to severe burns in the governorate of Ben Arous, one of the governorates of Greater Tunis.
Her supervising doctor announced that the victim suffers from ‘third degree burns’ due to her exposure to the banned Soda substance.
It is noteworthy that the Soda caused serious job accidents, the last of which was a worker at the ‘Comcap’ Factory, and employers resorted to covering up these accidents for fear of accountability due to the use of illegal material.
In order to protect the victim of the case, the local union of the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT by its French initials) notified the labor inspectorate of this incident to holdthe responsible parties accountable and to guarantee the rights of the victim.
