A governmental decree by Tunisian prime minister sparked a great controversy in the trade union and political circles in Tunisia, given its explicit “intentions” to pursue financial policies that contradict the basic rights of all Tunisian wage earners.
Under the title “No to assignments, No to vacancies’ compensations, No to promotions, No to full production grants”, a Tunisian union leader summarized the content of decree 16 of the Tunisian prime minister, which included its orientations during the preparation process of the state’s budget for the year 2021.
The reactions of the various interlocutors in the Tunisian social and political scene are continuing due to this decree.
A number of economic experts expected a difficult year at all levels, especially in light of the Tunisian General Labor Union’s (UGTT) expression of its rejection to make regular workers and employees solely bear the costs of all economic crises.
