ILO: Young Workers Hardest Hit by COVID-19

The International Labor Organization (ILO) has declared that young people are among the most severely affected and most affected by the repercussions of the emerging COVID-19 pandemic relating to their careers.

She pointed out that at least one of the six people stopped working from the beginning of the crisis, which reveals that large proportions of workers do not have any formal work contracts, are under-payed or work in sectors that had to close due to the pandemic.

ILO also confirmed that the pandemic represented a triple blow for young people, as it not only destroyed their jobs, but also disrupted education and training and created great obstacles to their entry to the labor market or to transitioning between jobs.

ILO reminded that young people who enter the labor market during periods of economic recession would be paying for it for several years, because they struggle to find a job or have to work in jobs that do not fit their educational background.
