The Egyptian Doctors Syndicate accused the Ministry of Health of failing to take care of the medical staff facing the Coronavirus, warning of a health disaster in Egypt.
The dispute erupted after doctors died from the Coronavirus and caused further infections, amid widespread calls on social media demanding the dismissal of the Minister of Health.
The Syndicate announced in a statement that “the Ministry of Health failed to take care of all members of the medical staff, and that unfortunately, there are repeated cases of the Ministry of Health failing to fulfill its duty to protect doctors such as refraining from conducting early blood tests to discover any infections among members of the medical teams, reluctance in the testing of those who have confirmed their contact with positive Coronavirus patients, and even the failure to quickly provide treatment spaces for those affected”.
It is essential to note that Egypt has recorded 19 deaths among doctors as a result of exposure to COVID-19, while the country lives under a marked increase in the number of infections, which which currently stands at 17.000 cases.
