Kuwait: Egyptians Imprisoned for Human Trafficking Charges

work.

The Kuwaiti Public Prosecution announced that it had received information concerning those accused of bringing thousands of workers to Kuwait without actually providing them with work.

Prosecution in Kuwait revealed that the owner of a guard company and an officer in the Ministry of Interior established an office to illegally bring in workers with the help of Egyptian merchants in exchange of large sums of money. The Coronavirus crisis revealed these crimes after distributing the salaries of workers and unveiling some facts about the existent human trafficking operations.

It appears that Kuwait had announced its willingness to deport workers who wanted to return to their countries free of charge, which exposed the huge number of migrants who were without any jobs or actual contracts. The Public Prosecution expects that the number of complaints against this network will increase in the upcoming days.
