United Nations Launches Call to Youth to Talk About the Impact of COVID-19 on Rights

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights announced the launch of the “Global Initiative for Decent Work for Youth” in order to listen to young people from different countries of the world to speak directly about the effects of COVID-19 on their rights to transform their views into systematic policies.

The Commission stated that it had prepared a survey based on four areas concerned with young people, namely how the outbreak of the pandemic affected young people’s work and education, the effects of the pandemic on the psychological state of youth and its mental health, their involvement in social and voluntary activities under the pandemic, their views on the taken measures and their perceptions of the role of the authorities in the future.

The survey targeted youth from all countries of the world and different intellectual backgrounds as well as from various educational institutions and also among unemployed youth.

It is also important to note that the closing date of the survey will be on May 21, 2020 and its results will be widely published to prepare for the launch of the “Global Initiative to provide decent work for young people”.
