According to a statement of the Director General of the Tunisian Airlines Company to the French newspaper “Le Pen”, the company is facing great economic difficulties, a wave of questions amid the return of news about the intention to sell the company to Qatar Airways or Turkish Airlines.
The general manager stated that the company is in need of one hundred million dinars ($ 40 million) in order to redeem wages and suppliers, and that the company is obliged to restart negotiations on the purchase of 5 Airbus planes programmed for the years 2021 and 2022 due to the difficult situation the company is experiencing.
It is worth noting that the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) strongly opposed the vote in the Tunisian Airlines, which predicts a soon “confrontation” between the trade union organization and the Tunisian government in case the announcement is made in the company.
