Morocco: Denouncements by the Progressive Union of Moroccan Women

In a statement, the Progressive Union of Moroccan Women, under the banner of the Moroccan Labor Union, expressed its concern about registering Coronavirus infections among the workers in some of the facilities that it described as inactive and with a high operational rate.

In the same context, the union denounced the employers’ insistence on continuing production in non-vital sectors, thus endangering the lives of thousands of workers and their families, especially among working women who face exploitation, demobilization and work without respecting the conditions of health protection.

The text of the statement also called on the responsible authorities to intensify control operations to determine the commitment of the production units to preventive measures to protect the health of workers and to strictly deal with violators.

It is noteworthy that Morocco had recorded a number of COVID-19 cases in some factories and production units, the last of which was in the shoe factory in the industrial area Sidi Bernoussi in Casablanca.
