The Syndicate of Nurses and Legal Midwives announced the transfer of the file of Abdul Hadi Private Hospital to the legal advisor, to start legal procedures, and to file a case against the owner and director of the hospital after his abuse of the nursing profession.
The Syndicate affirmed that it would guarantee any financial costs for any nurse willing to sue the owner and director of the hospital, and to sponsor any financial costs for any nurse inside or outside of Jordan who want to sue him for psychological or moral damage.
The Union elaborated on the details of the case stating that “The hospital was granted a delay, after the hospital owner abused Jordanian women in general, and nurses in particular, especially after the way he described them because they demanded the most basic of their legal rights, and after he asked the nurses to go on unpaid leaves, which made them resort to the radio.”
The Union will address Princess Mona Al-Hussein as she is the nursing and midwifery sponsor in the Middle East region and will also address the Women’s Committee in Professional Syndicates to adopt the nurses’ case, according to the Jordanian Labor Monitor.
In the introduction to the statement, the union said that “the response of the hospital and its owner was not the minimum required, and there was no clear and explicit apology, but the hospital only paid half of the salary and justified the abuse as “a misunderstanding”, in a letter by the hospital to the union”.
The union indicated that it will not limit the address to the internal authorities, but rather will submit a written complaint to all organizations concerned with women’s affairs outside Jordan.
As for the union’s relation with the hospital, the syndicate decided to put the hospital on the Black List, which means that the hospital is not a suitable working environment for nurses as soon as the defense law ends.
According to the statement, the union guaranteed the salaries of all the nurses in the hospital until they were appointed to hospitals that respect the nursing profession.
If the male and female nurses do not comply with the decisions of the Bar Council, their respective union membership will be canceled.
The union confirmed its commitment to Defense Decision No. (6), issued on 4/6, and related to the payment of the full salary of last March.
According to the union, if the hospital does not pay the employees’ wages dues, government institutions and the competent authorities will be informed in order to take legal measures against the hospital, which include fines and imprisonment.
The director of the private hospital had spoken in abusive terms against the nurses working for him, during his talk with a private radio station and had also falsely attacked the media worker who tried to clarify the truth of the complaints from him.
