Tunisia: Full April Wages for Private Sector Enterprises

Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) and the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts finalised an agreement regarding April wages for private sector workers.

This was during a session held Tuesday, at the Ministry of Social Affairs, under the supervision of the Minister.

The session was devoted to considering the salvation of the workers involved in the exceptional and circumstantial procedures stipulated in the decree of the Prime Minister related to accompanying institutions and taking note of their procedures.

The agreement stipulated that workers would be granted full wages for the month of April 2020, where 200 dinars ($ 69) would be paid by the state as part of the exceptional circumstantial assistance and provided that the employer would pay the remaining part of the wages.

It was also agreed that the employer may make a notification about the wages of employees who were not previously authorized to the National Social Security Fund within a month of the entry into force of the agreement, provided that the effect of the engagement and registration of the procedure applies from the date of its issuance, without consequences of default in the settlement of positions and that workers are integrated in the list of those interested in a grant of 200 dinars.
