Nissaf Bin Alia, director of the National Observatory of New and Emerging Diseases, said in a statement yesterday Wednesday in the Health and Social Affairs Committee, that 55 aid workers in the health sector got infected with Coronavirus, among which only two were infected in hospitals and the rest caught the infection from their families.
Bin Alia also confirmed that horizontal infections were occurring within families at the beginning and are now getting worse. She announced 1630 individuals in self-confinement are resident in the shelters, confirming that no infection was recorded from one person to another among them.
Bin Alia said that 40 people did not comply with the self-quarantine, which necessitated the extension of the period of compulsory quarantine for them for the next two weeks.
The doctor denied that the measures of the Ministry of Health are the reason of the emergence of infection episodes in several places but it’s rather due to the lack of commitment of citizens to public health quarantine istructios, especially their movement from one region to another.
