Tunisia: Increase in Salaries of Those Affected by Work Accidents and Occupational Diseases

The Tunisian General Labor Union announced that the National Health Insurance Fund will disburse the increases resulting from the modification of rents for the benefit of the beneficiaries of fines resulting from work accidents or occupational diseases following the issuance of a government order in November 2019 stipulating the increase according to the increases in the guaranteed minimum wage and with a retroactive effect beginning May 1, 2018.

Al-Shaab newspaper revealed that the upcoming rations will include the amount of the increase, but it would cover the period between May 1, 2018 and March 31, 2020 will be disbursed in the following forms:

The monthly fees paid in arrears, and the arrears will be disbursed with the increase in April 2020.

As for the rations that are disbursed every 3 months, they are of two types. The rations spent at the end of every 3 months are civil, and their arrears will be disbursed with the second triple run for the year 2020, that is, in the month of June.

The second type, which is the rations that are disbursed in conjunction with the grants, that is, in the second month of each trimestre, which belongs to the beneficiaries of the trials dating back before the law of 1994, the arrears will be disbursed with the May 2020 pensions.

UGTT reminded that this gain was obtained thanks to what it had done since 2012 in order to implement a legal text that was passed 25 years ago and remained subject to an order, stressing that it is continuing to work to improve the benefits of those affected by work accidents and occupational diseases, either temporary or chronic.
