The Jordanian Labor Observatory called on government departments and the private sector to provide and implement all necessary preventive measures to protect all workers in their workplace, and to implement all necessary measures in coordination with the relevant authorities in the Ministry of Health and the Social Security Corporation.
The observatory called in a statement under the title “Let us all unite in the face of the Corona epidemic” all workers to adhere to and apply protectionist health measures as approved by the relevant official and administrative authorities.
The Observatory emphasized that with the announcement of the Ministry of Health that Jordan is free from the detected cases of Corona virus, this requires the joining of all governmental efforts, civil society and the private sector to take maximum protection measures to protect all members of society and adhere to the instructions of the Ministry of Health and the relevant authorities to prevent its spread.
The Observatory also stressed the necessity for institutions departments in the public and private sectors to provide various sterilizers and cleaning tools in sufficient quantities for all workers in the workplace, and to provide exceptional preventive health care to health care workers as they deal with patients and potential infected, who are most vulnerable to infection with the virus.
The observatory statement also called for the necessity of ensuring and protecting the workers’ basic rights in the wages and sick leave in case of infection with the virus, especially workers in an unorganized manner, and the need to expand the application of remote work methods in the sectors that allow this, in a way that serves to reduce the mixing of workers with each other and the chances of the virus spreading.
The statement also stressed that the battle against the Corona virus is a battle for everyone, and that concerted efforts and high-level coordination between all parties is the guarantor of the success of this humanitarian battle.
