Omani Government is Considering to Revoke Exit Visas for all Foreign Workers

A report issued by the Ministry of Community Development revealed that the Omani government is considering a new draft regarding the cancellation of all exit Visas for all workers within its territories at the present time, and all foreign workers.

The report indicated that up to that point, work is still underway to enable employees to change their employer more easily.

It is noteworthy that the Omani government cancelled exit visas for some foreign workers last year.

For its part, the International Labor Organization (ILO) revealed that all new measures taken by the Omani government are a very important step towards supporting all the rights of all foreign workers, especially as it aims to end the sponsorship system in the coming period.

Meanwhile, according to the current system, foreign workers must obtain their sponsor’s approval before they can change jobs, which makes them vulnerable to exploitation.
