Shaher Saad, Secretary General of the Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions, called on male and female workers to uphold their right to receive their full and undiminished wages, in light of the emergency declared by President Mahmoud Abbas due to the spread of the new Corona virus (COVID-19) in many Palestinian cities and in the territories of 48 .
This came in the context of the clarification of the Secretary-General of the Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions, of ambiguity about the right of male and female workers to receive their wages in light of the failure or closure of the establishments in which they work, based on the text of Article (38) of the Palestinian Labor Law in force with the State of Palestine since 2000 .
The aforementioned article included that “the work contract does not end in the event of an administrative or judicial decision to close the facility or suspend its activity temporarily for a period not exceeding two months, and the employer must continue to pay the wages of his workers throughout the period of closure or temporary suspension taking into account the provisions contained in this law relating to During the trial period”.
It also stated that “As the commitment mentioned in paragraph (1) above expires after a period of two months, and the employer must pay his workers in addition to what was previously mentioned as an end-of-service bonus as stipulated in the provisions of this law”.
