The Democratic Confederation of Labor sent a letter to Prime Minister Saad Al-Din Al-Othmani, which was signed by the Secretary-General of the Confederation Abd al-Qadir al-Zayer, in which she called on Prime Minister Saad Al-Din al-Othmani to hold a tripartite dialogue session to discuss the measures needed to take to reduce the negative repercussions on the social conditions of the working class and other broad segments of the population.
The message highlighted that the world market is experiencing a significant decline in the price of crude oil and net petroleum products, without that having a tangible impact on the price of selling fuel to consumers and professionals who are suffering from the effects of price increases after the removal of subsidies at the end of 2014 and the liberalization of prices at the end of 2015, and that fuel prices are mainly related with the price in the international market, which has escaped from the traditional rules of the Organization of the Oil Producing Countries.
Furthermore, the continent taxes and the cost of transportation and insurance, pointing out that the profits guaranteed by the nature of control in the Moroccan market remains the only justification for the high prices of fuel and doubling the profits of companies’ distribution in Morocco after the liberation.
The Executive Office of the Democratic Confederation of Labor, called on the Prime Minister to urgently intervene in order to review the prices of fuel and petroleum products in line with the international price by abolishing the law of liberalizing prices until the conditions for real competition are provided, and raising national reserves by resuming production at the Muhammadiyah Refinery for oil refining and working to dismantle all understandings about the prices and the establishment of the National Agency for Technicians providing Morocco with petroleum energy, adopting the professional “gas” like the marine “gas” and pushing the road transport out of the informal sector.
They also called for an emergency session of the tripartite dialogue to discuss the measures that need to be taken to reduce the negative repercussions on the social conditions of the working class and broad groups of citizens in light of the health situation both nationally and internationally as well as the economic repercussions of the Corona epidemic at the international level, and indicators of its impact on the national economy.
