The National Confederation of Trade Unions and Employees in Lebanon denounced the arbitrary exchange operations and the lack of movement of the responsible oversight bodies in the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to carry out their duties in order to protect workers and stop the actions of employers who exploit Lebanese and non-Lebanese workers and migrants as well as those who try to take advantage of the political crisis to degrade the uprising and movement Popularity as having negative consequences for their policies and for their greed to increase their profits.
The Confederation demanded in a statement, to monitor the markets and prices, and not only to establish control records that do not sow or fatten from hunger, stressing the necessity of putting violators, monopolists and manipulators of prices of the national currency and consumer prices to trial. Starting from banks, money changers, monopolists and merchants who deepened poverty and starvation.
The National Union also condemned the actions of representatives of oil companies, furnace monopolists and hospital gangs, calling on the government to act and carry out its duties to stop these violations that target citizens’ lives, their livelihoods and their movements to their work, which they are threatened with leaving.
It also warned the authority of the exacerbation of the crisis, especially its failure to fulfil its obligations to provide social protection, protect wages and the exchange rate of the lira, which was negatively reflected in the purchasing power of the people.
It also considered that the repercussions of the crisis on the exchange rate of the lira, such as price changes and the policies that the banks blackmail the depositors and facilitate the transfer of the money and the ruling class as well as the pursuit of financial policies that increased the profits of the banks, the corrupt and the brokers, and increased the impoverishment of the poor and the middle class, and threatens the gains, including social security and the sustainability of work and stability in Economic and social security.
The confederation also noted the Social Security Administration’s attempt to pass the linkage of contributions to benefits, contrary to the Social Security Law.
