Morocco: Unions in the Education Sector Preparing Protest Movements

Union Coordination Committee, consisting of the National Union for Education CDT and the National University of Education – Democratic Orient FNE, has decided to stage a protest program, to be announced at the press conference that it will be organized on Thursday, 5 March in Rabat.

 

On Friday, 28 February, the union coordination committee issued a press release, in which it affirmed the state’s persistence through its governments in implementing its destructive plans of public education, by adopting neither popular nor democratic policies by targeting free and contract employment and public-private partnership and retirement as well as separating training from employment and the strike law etc.

The press release pointed out the continuation of the scheme of striking the trade union movement and its historical and legal roles and restricting trade union freedoms with several measures, particularly the deductions from strikers’ wages, and the absence of any positive horizon to solve the pending issues.
