According to Mohamed Sioud, secretary-general of the syndicate's branch of health at Taher Sfar University Hospital in Mahdi, all workers at the hospital “will go on a strike starting March 2, due to the absence of the simplest means of prevention for the emerging coronavirus”.
Sioud said, in a statement to TAP News Agency, that the medical and paramedical staff and the various agents organized, on the day before yesterday, Saturday, a gathering to study the general situation to prevent the widespread of this virus and the possibilities available to combat it.
He pointed to the vast difference between the theoretical training received by the hospital staff and the preparations that are taking place on the ground in the form of registering a coronavirus infection, stressing that the agents did not obtain the simplest means of protection such as gloves, medical gags, work clothes, medical shoes and other means necessary to prevent infection, especially And that the hospital is considered the first area to confront the virus.
Sioud drew attention to the disaster that could happen if the one of the patients, who visit the hospital in hundreds, would be carrying of the virus.
With no appropriate prevention conditions, the infection can occur and spread easily, explained Sioud.
Sioud also noted that it is necessary to provide medical masks, not only for hospital staff, but also for the patients and their companions, something he described as only possible in imagination.
As reported by TAP, Sioud explained that the authorities assigned a grant of 30 Dinars to hospital staff entitled “Infection”, but it will not stop an infection as life-threatening as the Corona virus.
“The Ministry of Health is always justifying its position by the absence of the necessary funds to purchase simple means of prevention,” he said.
