Protests at Tunisie Telecom

On Tuesday, February 18, Tunisie Telecom employees and workers carried out a protest rally in front of the central headquarters of the corporation, in which a large number of employees from all over the country participated in protest over the neglect of the administration of the legitimate demands they raised.

Al-Shaab newspaper reported that employees and protesters raised banners and slogans denouncing the violation of the set agreements and that the administration ignored its obligations through wrong policies as well as underestimated the employees’ demands.

Protesters also warned through their slogans, against the use of intimidation and threats towards them.

Al-Shaab also reported that Tunisie Telecom employees launched a strike on Thursday, which received wide participation by employees in all work centers in the country and reflected the legitimacy of the demands put forward as well as the extent of their circumvention around their union structures.

The employees and agents of Tunisie Telecom called for the completion of negotiations in the ordinal aspects and for not compromising the agreements concluded between the Tunisian General Labor Union and the government with regards to ending handling within public establishments according to an agreement made on February 9, 2011.

Protesters also demanded an increase in wages for employees of Al-Etisaliah Services Corporation for the years 2017, 2018 and 2019.
