On Wednesday, February 12, the National Health Workers of the National Union of Health, which is affiliated with the Democratic Labor Confederation, organized a massive protest in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Health delegate in the province of Madiouna in the Casablanca-Settat region.
This protest was launched by the regional office of the National Health Union, in response to “the constant excessive use of authority by the region’s delegate”.
The regional delegate was allegedly involved in “insulting various health sector officials during administrative meetings”.
The delegate was also involved in using such method that violates all values and norms, in addition to use of threat, intimidation, and vengeance language for whoever Contradicts her opinion concerning the management and decision-making within the health health sector in the region of Mediouna, according to confirmations made by the regional secretary, Mohamed Abdou.
Protesters revealed in press statements that the health delegate did not stop at the before-mentioned violations, but also exceeded that to apply trade union restrictions on trade unionists.
According to the same statements the delegate’s team launched what they called “a war against them because of their union positions and their rejection to comply with certain applied policies”.
The current procedures adopted by the delegate in operating the sector is unfit with the fragility the health sector is currently witnessing, said Abdou.
The provincial office had already issued a number of press releases, in which it revealed a number of imbalances in the sector, underlining some of the details that were revealed by the regional inspection committee last October.
It also recalled in this regard, a series of protest movements against the deterioration of the status of health personnel, and the rise in the intensity of the social congestion of the inhabitants of the region due to the weak health services and their lack of progress due to the policy pursued by the delegate.
Protestors also revealed the great delay in the budget spending for running the sector and transactions, also the unjustified delay in spending compensation for guarding, mandatory and other services.
They also noted the random intervention of the delegate in conducting the affairs of the regional hospital, which is in debts, in addition to the catastrophic situation of neglect that has affected the Razi Mental and Psychiatric Hospital in “Tit Melill” region.
