Jordan: Free work permit fees lowered

During its last meeting, held last Sunday, the Ministerial Council approved the proposal of the Minister of Labor concerning the further application of Ministerial Decree number 7140 dated 28/10/2019; a decree which relates to the reduction of the costs of free labor which does not depend on the end of the period of regulation of the situation of foreign workers.

The Ministry of Labor will continue to ensure the sum of 700 dinars of costs for daily workers (agricultural) and the sum of 900 dinars for construction, loading and unloading and this for a permanent even after the end of the regulation of the situation of foreign workers which has been extended by one month.

In this context, the Minister of Labor explained that the decisions of his ministry are based on data, statistics and studies and that the free work permit did not see a large flow of applicants which led to these reductions. He added that the revision of these fees will reduce the influence of traders on work permits.

The minister indicated that the permanent revision of the fees of the free permit comes to encourage a part of the foreign workforce who avoided these permits which aim at regulating the job market by directing the foreign workers towards sectors which do not attract the Jordanians.
