Morocco: Assault of a nurse at the Rabat blood injection center

A nurse from the regional blood injection center in Rabat was physically threatened and verbally assaulted last Sunday while on the job.

The attackers asked the nurse for blood bags and did not accept the respondent's response, who explained that the blood bags should be transferred by ambulance to the clinic where the patient was hospitalized, in accordance with applicable laws. Following this response, the assailants attempted to force open the locked nurse's office door.

In this context, the regional office of the blood injection center in Rabat, under the authority of the National Federation of Health of the Moroccan Labor Union (UMT), strongly denounced this attack and called the director of the center and the Ministry of Health to take all legal measures in order to protect the rights of the nurse attacked.

The regional office also called on all clinics to apply the laws in force, explaining that clinics that do not comply with these laws must be penalized. The office expressed its unconditional support with the assaulted nurse and condemned the lack of security arrangements for the benefit of health workers.
