The online newspaper ‘Al Akhbar’ said the budget director-general has refused to grant bonuses from the Special Fund to workers in the Ministry of Finance while they have been receiving it for the past decade. Ministry sources told the newspaper that the director-general has decided to block the bonus despite the minister's orders preferring to grant the bonus only to ministers and directors of the ministry.
The same sources said that the finance minister asked his department’s IT administration to transfer the bonus to the bank accounts of workers who received it in cash.
Ministers receive monthly premiums from the Special Fund; a bonus worth one and a half million ouguiyas.
