Labor Minister Faisal Batayneh said the increase in the minimum wage should be studied with the concerned parties who will discuss its impact on different economic sectors. He added that the ministry will invite the tripartite commission (made up of employers, unions and the ministry) to a meeting to study the issue.
Faisal Batayneh explained that the ministry takes into consideration the standard of living of the citizen and, also, the encouragement of investments and investors who need a favorable working atmosphere concerning, above all, the cost of labor and that of production. The ministry said the increase in question will be decided after a thorough study that will take into account all of this data and interest.
The Minister of Labor pointed out that, for the time being, the ministry is considering raising minimum wages across sectors on a case-by-case basis.
