The company 'Afrpport' which manages the international airport of Nouakchott is experiencing great tension in the ranks of its workers who began last Tuesday a labor strike following the failure of negotiations with officials of the company.
In this context, the online newspaper 'Sarraj' reported that workers are demanding a wage increase, a risk premium, transport and other benefits they enjoyed with other companies.
Mauritanian workers, transferred to the Emirati company that won a 25-year contract for the management of the airport, complained about the practices of the company in question that recognizes no premium and delays wages.
The workers explained that the director of the company targets them directly and that he does not have the necessary qualities for the position he holds. The workers sent a letter to the Aviation Directorate, the Directorate of Employment, the Ministry of Transport and the general management of the company where they threatened to suspend work if their requests were not implemented. .
The company employs 250 active workers in the vital areas of the airport.
