The Independent Syndicate of Secondary Education Teachers called for SIPES to provide adequate protection to teachers on the school campus, bearing the full responsibility of the public authorities.
The syndicate issued a statement calling for the expulsion of a student and bringing her to justice for what the union described as a "sinful assault" against a mathematics teacher at Tiaret 1 preparatory.
The union says that the attack came after the female professor was expelled for "bad morals and lack of discipline," noting that this incident was preceded by "verbal and physical attacks against teachers," and added that "the phenomenon of assaulting and belittling teachers has become a matter of concern."
The statement considered that the parliamentarians 'rejection of the proposal to increase the teachers' allowances is one of the categories of "the repeated insults that teachers are exposed to and which undermine their prestige and dignity."
