The General Union of Palestinian Women and the Coalition for the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) held a meeting with representatives of the Liberation Organization yesterday Monday of Palestine at the headquarters of the General Union in Ramallah. This meeting was dedicated to the communiqué from Hizb Attahrir and other parties in the city of Hebron which attacked CEDAW.
At the same meeting, participants also addressed the attack on the feminist movement and said that it has become urgent to publish the Convention in the Official Gazette and to approve the law on family protection against violence. They also called for the implementation of the decision of the National Central Bureau regarding the minimum representation of women (30%).
In the same context, it was explained that there is no contradiction between the content of the Declaration of Independence and that of CEDAW.
