Thousands of Algerians employed for years on pre-employment contracts continue to search for a solution to obtain all their rights. While the government is committed to resolving this issue before the end of the current year, the debate over pre-employment contracts continues as some try to explain that it represents a positive alternative.
Thousands of young people are calling for their situation to be regulated so that they can obtain their social and professional rights, especially since several of them have been working for years for low wages and a very unstable situation. .
Pre-employment contracts is a formula that allows young graduates of universities and vocational training institutes to be hired, public and private sector, for an average salary of $ 120 per month (salary and social security coverage taken supported by the State). The employer, on the other hand, is responsible for the second part of the employee’s salary, provided that the company agrees to change the nature of the contract for three years, renewable only once. Pre-hiring contracts are designed to give new graduates work experience to help them obtain new hiring offers.
Media sources have said that protests by employees of pre-employment contracts in Algeria have never stopped with more than 125 demonstrations since the start of 2018 according to unofficial statistics.
For their part, the young Algerians consider these contracts to be slavery contracts since they serve, in reality, only to camouflage the failure of government employment policy.
